 | Çaliş (pronounced "Chalish"), is a quiet yet busy holiday resort, with a seemingly endless beach. Bars and restaurants line the beach area, which is block paved along the seafront. The resort is very flat, so is ideal for people with mobility restrictions. Çaliş has its own water park too. Parts of the beach are also popular with the local turtle population, who come in to lay their eggs in the sand. | The resort is located in the Fethiye region of south west Mediterranean Turkey, one mile form Fethiye town; and 7 miles from Olu Deniz. The nearest airport is Dalaman airport , which is 25 miles from the resort. | | Local excursions Boat trips to nearby islands are available; fishing trips (including shark fishing); and excursions to Dalyan turtle beach; Pamukkale (Cotton Castle); Saklikent Tlos Gorge. |  | Nightlife The night life tends to be low-key, with a good selection of bars, cafes and cocktail bars, many on the beachfront boulevard and with bay views. There are a couple of discos; and larger hotels offer seasonal evening entertainments with live music and often belly-dancing. A more active nightlife can be found in nearby Fethiye town. There are also various truck safaris in the mountains;. The Fethiye Market also takes place every Tuesday. |  | Beaches A long, narrow arc of dark sand and shingle lined with sun loungers and shades extends round a broad bay with sheltered waters. Backed by an appealing, mainly pedestrianised boulevard with a grassy verge and small trees; lit for evening strolls. Safe to swim; some water sports offered. Turtles lay eggs in the sand at certain times of the year. By a short bus or taxi ride, Őlűdeniz blue lagoon can be enjoyed. | | Public Transport Frequent dolmuş (minibus) to Fethiye town, as well as a taxi-boat service along the river to Fethiye town (half-hourly during summer season). Car, bicycle and moped hire all available. Plentiful taxis from a couple of ranks and around resort.
Eating out Ample choice of restaurants, cafes and snack bars serving local and Turkish fare, seafood, Italian, Indian, Chinese. British breakfasts for the homesick. Restaurants line the beachfront boulevard, offering airy dining with fine views of bay. Nearby Fethiye town offers more variety.
Entertainments Daytime: some water sports, including surfing. Horse riding. Turkish baths and massage. Aqua park with slides and fitness centre. Good selection of tours to nearby islands; fishing; shark fishing.
